Taste and Aroma
Depending on the variety of the pepper, red paprika can produce a flavor ranging from sweet to mild to spicy hot.
Quick Kitchen Tips
Red paprika powder should be stored consistently in a cool, dry environment, preferably in the refrigerator. It should be protected from exposure to sunlight or other strong light, and the product should not be stored next to any strong smelling substance.
Recommended dosage (per 500 gr):
Red & white meats = up to 125 ml
Vegetables = 4 teaspoons (20 ml)
Carbs = 2 to 3 teaspoons (10 to 15 ml)
How to use when cooking:
When using dried red paprika, it is usually added near the end of the cooking process, because heat can diminish both the color and the flavor.
Dishes it Works Best With
Grill the steak on medium high heat for about 2 minutes until it is browned. Remove the steak cubes from the pan and add the onions and carrots. Stir until the vegetables are cooked and soft.
Now add the garlic and the paprika, stir everything up and let the mixture simmer for one minute. Pour the beef stock into the pan and add the diced tomatoes. Let everything simmer for a few more minutes under constant stirring.
Place the meat back into the pan, bring everything to boil and let it cook covered for about an hour. Add cubed potatoes and let the Goulash cook for another 30 minutes.
Add salt and pepper to taste, serve in bowls with sour cream and chives on top.
