Store in a tightly sealed glass container in a cool, dark and dry place.Ground cloves will keep for about six months, while whole cloves will stay fresh for about one year stored this way.

How to use when cooking:
Whole cloves are added to boiling beef, fish, poultry or shrimp when cooking stock. When you add whole cloves to the water in which vegetables are being steamed, it gives the vegetables a warm peppery taste.
Ground cloves have a milder taste than whole cloves. They are a key ingredient in several spice seasoning blends.

Prepare the apples by peeling, removing the core and quartering them. Place the quarters into a small pot. Add cloves, apple juice, cinnamon and honey.
Bring it to cook on high heat and let the mix simmer for circa 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally.Remove the cloves and blend everything into a smooth puree. The homemade apple sauce is ready to serve.
